“Our Shul was filled to the brim with happiness, love and gratitude,” says Lisa Donath about the day, last year, on June 23rd 2014, when she stood with her fiance Russell Heller under the Chuppah of the Temple Emanuel in New Jersey. The years leading up to it had been tough, with Russell having lost his mother to breast cancer and Lisa herself undergoing multiple surgeries after a near death experience when she fell into a subway track.
Family and friends filled the dance hall to celebrate with them. They danced the night away to the music of the Shloime Dachs Band. It was especially meaningful to have her brother officiate the wedding. As an added bonus, Russell's family rabbi sang the Ketubah text to the tune of Shir HahSirim.
The flower arrangements were created by Gold Flowers and they hired photographer Zush Heinrich to capture photos of their special day. When they brought their Ketubah to be framed, they were told it was the beautiful one they had ever seen. Their Moroccan design Ketubah hangs proudly in their New Jersey home.
Wishing Lisa and Russell many more years of happiness together
